A Constructivist-based Tool for Operating Systems Education

Teaching and learning about operating systems is difficult. This paper uses a perspective based in constructivism to examine previous attempts at addressing problems associated with teaching operating systems. Based on this review the paper describes the rationale, design and implementation of RCOS.java a simulated operating system that provides animations and other facilities to enable and support constructivist based approaches to operating systems education.
