Bit of fun
One of the nice things about having a blog, at least for me, is getting the odd little bit of positive reinforcement that what you’re writing and thinking might be deemed useful by some. This page is meant to automate/enshrine a bit of this and also allow me to play with some “Web 2.0 stuff”.
Essentially this page will gather stuff from existing external sources (initially Google and Technorati) and summarise how they “rank” this blog. What follows is the first attempt. I’ve done a bit of this previously using manual posts.
Disclaimer: I fully realise that these rankings are at best a proxy of impact/importance. The main aim is to play with some “Web 2.0″ stuff to automate this, not to illustrate conclusively how “good” this blog is. As with citations in publications there are ways to increase these types of things, so it’s all just a bit of a game.
Method
First method will be simple Google spreadsheets to chart and then to here. Quick and dirty.
